A...Cherry Beach has a huge off leash area, it is the best dog park I have visited in Toronto, it's a great place to bring the dogs to swim, you can also appreciate the view of the city. What breed? It has beautiful views of the Toronto skyline and of Lake Ontario, which makes it a scenic experience for everyone. I would come back if I ever travel back to Canada.I was expecting a great urban beach like in Chicago. All images enlarge in a new window with a click!

Afterwards, recommend having lunch at T&T on Cherry St. which has great takeout food and indoor /outdoor eating area.It's got Sand and Water. There are rocks all over the water and some of it looks like landfill from the nearby Tommy Thompson Park/Leslie Street Spit. Although the water is usually too cold to swim in it, it is great for kids...A sanctuary in the city, this beach can be reached within 20 mins walk from downtown Toronto. It did smell a little but what lake doesn't.

It is worth the drive to Cherry Beach!This is a popular dog park all year long. It was once connected with Toronto Islands as part of the former peninsula before 1852 and later was referred to as Fisherman's Island. The water was warm and nice.
