Now, to get me out of here, it would be kicking and screaming…Moving out here to Catskill was the best thing I ever did because it was perfectly suited for life in quarantine.ââGrowing up in Toledo, the biggest hills were the landfills,â Hartman jokes. He was working for CBS in New York and they were living in Harlem.âNow it seems like Iâm a genius,â Hartman says. âBut that hasnât been the case. That was not going to happen in Harlem. Thereâs not a bird on this property we donât know by name, and many by call. One week heâs in Washington state, overlooking Puget Sound, telling how an elderly gentleman plays Taps each night at sunset to honor Americaâs veterans. Professionally, I want to stay relevant.
It’s certainly going to be hard to get the emotional stories we seek, over Skype. Then I would sit here, put all the material in the computer, and write and edit for the next three days, usually finishing a few hours before it airs Friday night.âHartman keeps everything he does, and himself, in healthy perspective.
âI also like the opportunity to be more creative and really tell a story rather than just tell the facts. These 15 to 30 minute videos are geared towards 2nd to 6th graders.
I told him how that, often when weâre sad, we get so inward that our problems just swell into bigger problems and that somehow, reaching out to others, helps.âTogether, Booher and her son stayed up past midnight watching âI have work tomorrow and my son has school,â she wrote, âbut I thought his spirit and heart were more important than sleep.
