They have a balance.The series, overall, goes too slowly yet because of the time frame switches, doesn't manage to build any great suspense or ominous feeling.I think they knew that they had messed up with the broken narrative structure, because the last few episodes repeated whole scenes from earlier on, as preface to the events within the episodes.Lots of things can improve. The writing, directing, and acting are all utter shit in WAY too many scenes.For the first few episodes it was like - One good scene, one bad scene, on and off. We look back at her best (& worst) decisions in The Witcher 3. I got to either 3 or 4 and couldn't get past that.i forced myself to the seventh one, it was painful...I'd say it rates around 7.5/10. Everything was so fast and unexplained that it quickly turned into a giant mess for someone going in cold like I did.I was intrigued with Geralt in the beginning, but everyone's personalities were so different in varying episodes that was passed off as off-screen character development that it became hard to appreciate or grow attached to any of them.
The Witcher isn’t quite the worst fantasy series of the year. you can just give them the same story they have been told a million times wrapped up in a shiny new package and they are screaming about how "good this new show is". The technical aspects of cinematography, lighting, fx, costume and set design are all sub par for what we expect these days.The casting was deliberately imbecilic, Anya just about works but, the other race swapped actresses are zero charisma and wooden.The race swapping is mostly jarring but, happily it isn't accompanied by any special character amplification.The main thing is the chemistry between the main three, Geralt, Yennifer and Ciri. Cavalier and chaotic at first but, slowly growing to embrace the destiny he spends most of the series, denying.Yennifer has a swift arc from weak and victim to rebel to responsible and powerful to ... something transcend that is yet to come.Ciri has least direct focus, most of her thread is about the situation and people around her but, the actress is a good performer and towards the end of the series she too begins to work to her destiny.The scenes between Yennifer and Geralt are great. I’m not sure it quite reaches the heights of the video game OSTs, but both It’s a very intense and beautiful soundtrack from co-composers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli that has Geralt is neither a hero nor an anti-hero, and while If you’re looking for an original dark fantasy with some horror elements, some bare skin and plenty of blood and gore (and monsters) look no further.
I guess as a writer, I always seem to be at odds with the general public, also known as the casual audience. The Mandalorian much like the Witcher has shown us that unimaginative narrative can get you far as long as you have meme levels of hype, great production quality and a big budget. I think that's a pretty poor way of handling a show that was encouraged for any watcher.Production 8/10?????????? But Cavill’s Geralt feels even more natural, even more at home in his pale skin and white hair, wolfish yellow eyes and grim monotone. An excellent cast, then, and also a diverse one.Unlike the games, the TV show adaptation throws the whiteness of the Polish source material out the window, and why not? When critics were talking about how Meanwhile, the casting is incredibly on-point especially with regards to the lead, Geralt of Rivia. They have good chemistry and are quite suited visually. Sapkowski, and you should absolutely watch it whether or not you've read the books. This casual audience also probably makes up about 90 percent of the total viewing audience.
Very much the lead. I'm trying to watch it, but I'm not sure how long I can survive the mindless drivel. Others are, hopefully, over with, going forward.I think they should drop the pretentious time jumping narrative. The show is basically xena warrior princess. I‘ll try tomorrow again.Same here. And there is fear and violence in the other two main storylines as well. No offense to any Americans on here (I’m British) but this show is as American as they come, every line is like something from a Disney movie.I agree, i dont get the circle jerk with the witcher, ever since GOT ended they wanted the witcher to be such a success. The princess Renfri who you’ll meet in the first episode could very well be a lead in her own story, and Emma Appleton does such an outstanding job you’ll wish she had a bigger part to play. It definitely has plenty of room for improvement. The costume design is rich and detailed. Ciri’s story is tied closely to that of both her parents and grandparents, and especially to her grandmother the queen. So now I am unsure wether I should watch it or not. It’s even a bit like some of the quests in Then we have Yennefer’s coming-of-age story as she goes off and learns how to practice magic, and then what comes after, though again I won’t spoil this. They can do whatever they please in an adaptation of a fantasy world inhabited by strange monsters, elves and magic.
The stories of these three characters, and the many other people, elves and dwarves they encounter, may be confusing at times, but at least five episodes in it’s really paid off.There are truly scary moments in some of Geralt’s monster hunts.
Like the Mandalorian , The Witcher series has a REALLY good main character though, but the narrative around that main character lacks and is bombarded by overused romance tropes and shit dialogue.The only reason I watched past the first few episodes is the Geralt Sword play when he fought those town thugs, that got me hooked, it was truly awesome to watch the style and smoothness of the choreography. 'The Witcher' is Netflix's brilliant adaptation of the fantasy novels from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and you should absolutely watch it whether or not you've read the books.
