The five chapters all exhibit the viewpoints and personalities of the "writers": Borch Three Jackdaws (The World and Its Inhabitants), Vesemir (The Witchers), Yennefer (The Magic and Religions of the Continent), Geralt (The Beasts of the Northern Kingdoms) and Dandelion (The Story of Geralt of Rivia). Coming to this book only after seeing the TV series and in the midst of reading the two books of short stories, I really liked its structure: a volume created by Dandelion, with aspects of the world presented by participants, interspersed with bits of folklore, history, scholarly snippets and quotes of individuals. This book doesn't cover everything in the game. I did not finish the full book as it seemed to start seeping into the Witcher 3 story.

The entire universe is excellent. A good overview of the Witcher world, literary and gaming (I think, since I haven't played the games, only seen the cinematics of them). Anyone who played the Witcher III knows that the compendium had much mote potential in the bestiary sections. AMAZING drawings, pictures and really great story! It skimmed over a lot of things without properly categorising the different sections of the book or going into much detail. It's very easy to get quality ebooks ;) Written as a fictional documentary, this is the most comprehensive summary of information on the Witcher franchise that exists.
A little of it misses the mark but is still worth looking at. Much like Game of Thrones, the Witcher series does a great job of threading the needle between historical feeling political intrigue, personal conflict and fantastical elements.
Fortunately, the background information is well-written and interesting. Really detailed, even if the text is somewhat shabby and sometimes confusing. The information is totally unnecessary but if you like the world and characters of the Witcher, then it is a fun read and it will take some time to work your way through this book as the font is pretty small. May 19th 2015 They hunt and kill beasts, and they always demand pay for their services. Great book but in 2-3 places the art was super low resolution ingame models, which was outrageous. When I was gifted this book, I thought it would be mainly a concept art book with information on game design.
