This area is rich in history starting with the old Mill to the Great Falls Dam that was built near the turn of the last century (1917). Cabins & Chalets (615) 425-8288. These historic sites provide for plenty of opportunities for taking pictures, but the wildlife (birds, flowers, insects, deer, etc.) We want to go back and kayak this in the summer. The waters were ragging and the falls flowing really good with all of the winter rain.

We are glad you enjoyed your winter cabin experience at Rock Island! We went for a weekend getaway and fished the Caney River. Sure it's a beautiful park, with all that nature stuff. Rock Island State Park has six picnic pavilions, 60 campsites and 10 cabins available to be reserved for your next visit to the park. The cabins are beautiful, well equipped and in great shape! There is limited cell phone service and no phone in the cabins. Can only imagine the crowds in the spring and summer. While fishing we found several waterfalls. Several pretty water falls and a really nice campground. Quaint little town on the way in. We also visited a few other waterfalls around the park. We were never bored and we do plan on coming back in the future.I went camping here, and by camping I mean we spent two nights in one of their furnished cabins. Cable tv, a fire place, a full kitchen, and bath. also provide excellent photo opportunities. Many trails with falls. Cabins. There is a tennis court and basketball court near the cabins as well as sand vollyball. It is a great place for a family getaway. We really enjoyed our visit. Our family stayed at one of the cabins.

Many different houses, restaurants, and marinas can be found here. Very nice trails and pretty scenery. We highly recommend dinner at the Foglight Foodhouse around the corner from here. Amazing waterfalls and scenery. It really want to go back during the summer when it's hot and we can explore down in the gorge! Please do visit us again in the summer.
